VOLUNTEERS HAVE FUN!

Ever wonder how the market happens?  Mostly the market is a group of volunteers and part-time staff who pitch-in and make things happen.  The Market is a more interesting place because of the diverse group of people who are involved.

The following volunteer opportunities are open for the 2011 season:

Kids Activities Assistant: Work with the Market's Children Coordinator to dream up once a month fun and small weekly activities for the market kids.  Educate, entertain, bring kids and their parents into the market to see how interesting 'fresh' can be!

Marketing Team: Flex your creativity whiile helping get the word out about the Markets, their locations and the wonderful market opportunities, all on a limited budget.  Place and implement our signage, flyers, press releases, banners and more.  Brainstorm new low-cost ways to promot the market and the fresh produce and fun within.

Market Partnership Facilitator: Help create, leverage and maximize mutually beneficial community partnerships.  Sharpen your networking skills while promoting the market to local businesses and other non profits.  Ideas available for pursuing are: contacting local retirement homes, affordable housing complexes, developing community gardens with market plants and then selling the produce, and linking with local business' promotions.  What other plans could we lay out and implement to bring market fresh produce and fun to our community.

Set Up or Break Down Assistants: Set up and break down help is needed at all our Markets.  Lifting and bending is required and the ability to be able to lift up to 50 pounds (25 kg).  Enjoy the casual fun while getting a light workout!  Minimum age is 15 years old.  Set up begins two hours before the Market starts, and take down two hours from the end of the Market.

Board Member: (requires membership in the Haney Farmers Market Society)  Help develop plans and strategies to make the Markets grow.  Support the work and endeavours of the Market Managers.
